Fitting consultations are by appointment only. It is essential to keep to the appointed time or inform us immediately of delays or cancellations. We reserve the right to charge for missed appointments if no notice or less than 24 hours’ notice is given for cancellations.
Fitting Fees
We charge for all work, including fittings and consultation. These are charged at the prevailing rate and given prior to any appointment being offered or confirmed.
Alterations, Estimates and Pricing
Alteration and tailoring charges are calculated at the prevailing rate given prior to appointments. At your fitting consultation, you will be offered a cost estimate, and we will discuss options and possibilities of how best to alter your garments for the best outcome.
Deposits and Payments
Before we commence any alterations, we will take a deposit payment, usually 50% of the estimated value of the whole work. Full payment is required at collection or before dispatch.
Completion of Alterations
Unless otherwise stated, we suggest that 8 to 12 weeks is allowed for bridal alterations, dependent on the complexity of the dress. Express charges may apply to urgent alterations under 6 weeks time. Please ask about express alterations prior to appointment, and we can explain any additional cost that may be involved.
Day and evening wear alterations are normally completed within five to seven working days unless otherwise stated. We offer an express service as soon as the same day for an additional 25% express charge. Express alterations need to be confirmed with us beforehand.
Uncollected Items & Disposal
Please note any uncollected items may be sold or disposed of to cover our costs within six weeks of notice of collection, and/or a storage charge may be levied for late collections. We can store bridal gowns and other alterations for over six weeks, but storage must be agreed upon in advance and may be charged at a rate we will quote.
Insurance and Liability for Clothes
The company will take the utmost care of your clothes. All garments left with us are entirely at the owner’s risk.
The company cannot accept liability for clothes damaged whilst in the care of any third party – for example, dry cleaners, invisible menders – who are or may be engaged on your behalf. Their terms and conditions will automatically apply.
Work Specification and Defects
The fitter will prepare a detailed description for each garment, recording the customer’s measurements and garment alteration instructions agreed with you (‘the Instructions’). After the fitting, you will receive a copy of the Instructions. Your item(s) will be thoroughly checked upon completion of the work specified. If a garment is unacceptable to the customer due to the alterations not being carried out and following the Instructions, we will rectify the work at our expense. We will, however, charge for additional alterations requested or when the customer changes their mind.
The customer is encouraged to try the garment and inspect it thoroughly for any defects during the collection appointment or when it is returned. We cannot accept responsibility for any further or remedial alterations connected to the original work more than 14 days after collection and final settlement.
